Introduction to DBMS Architecture.
Architecture of database system is greatly influenced by the architecture of computer system. This chapter deals with the following types of architecture of a database systems.
- Centralized System
- Client-server System
- Parallel System
- Distributed System
- Web-enabled enabled System.
- Networking: It is in terms of how different nodes are connected with each other and how they communicate with each other with respect to databases.
- Parallelism: It involves execution of several transactions/execution of same transaction on several nodes concurrently to optimize the overall performance.
- Distribution: It refers to division of total workload (query execution) amongst different nodes in a network.
